The Cruzados were formed in 1983 by members of The Plugz, which featured Tito Larriva, Tony Marsico, and Chalo Quintana, and included guitarists Steven Hufsteter and Marshall Rohner. The band's self-titled album, Cruzados, was released in 1985, followed by their second album, After Dark, in 1987, both on Arista Records.

Special guests on this collection include: Bob Dylan (harmonica) on Rising Sun; Don Henley (backing vocals) on Small Town Love.

Also, this collection features the original unreleased version of the song After Dark (a later version of this song would appear in the film From Dusk Til Dawn) and this version of The House The Love Built was featured in the film Desperado; and Don't Throw Stones was featured in the opening sequence of the film Roadhouse.
